Semiconductor Industry
The production of wafers and chips generates considerable amounts of grinding, sawing, cooling and rinsing wastewater. The wastewater is usually contaminated with fine particles and process chemicals and contains substances such as silicon (Si), silicon dioxide (SiO₂), silicon carbide (SiC) as well as surfactants and coolants.
Ceramics and glass industry
Similar wastewater is also produced in the processing of ceramics and glass during processes such as grinding, polishing and edge processing. These typically contain abrasive residues and chemical additives, including aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), various carbides and oxides as well as surfactants and coolants.
