Compact membrane system for research and industrial trials on a pilot scale
A membrane pilot plant is designed to test raw modules for micro- and ultrafiltration for their suitability under production conditions / bypass in cross-flow operation. It enables the continuous monitoring and recording of performance data in order to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the membrane used. From the test results obtained, a customer-specific production plant can be designed under operating conditions by means of a scale-up.

Construction of pilot plant
- The pilot system has an optional pre-filter (pore size 50-100 µm), which is installed before the actual membrane module.
- A separate storage tank with a capacity of approx. 160 liters is filled using a centrifugal pump provided. The tank also serves as a CIP tank as it is equipped with an electric heating coil. This is activated during the cleaning process to bring the cleaning medium to the required temperature.
- The operating pressure is set manually via a diaphragm valve.
- Important operating parameters such as operating pressure, filtrate pressure, filtrate volume, process temperature and module overflow are displayed via an HMI touch panel.
- This data can be saved as a file and retrieved as required.
- The system control enables cyclical backwashing of the membrane with the filtrate produced.
- Discharge of the concentrate and cleaning of the membrane module are not fully automatic, but must be initiated manually.
