Chemical supply container for acids and alkalis
Fäth has successfully delivered a custom-developed chemical supply container to a customer for the safe storage and automated supply of phosphoric acid and sodium hydroxide solution. The hazardous materials container combines the storage of aggressive liquid chemicals with a reliable supply to the connected production processes.
The system solution is installed outside the production building. From there, the required chemicals are automatically delivered to the cleaning and neutralisation processes. This provides the customer with a compact and safe chemical supply system tailored to their specific requirements.

How does the chemical supply container work?
Unlike a conventional hazardous materials storage container, the supply container does more than simply store chemicals. It also enables their controlled extraction and demand-based delivery to the connected points of use.
Pumps, filters, valves, piping and an air-conditioning system have been combined into one coordinated system solution. The pump, filter and valve technology is installed in protected cabinets. This increases personnel safety while also facilitating maintenance and servicing work.
Outside the cabinets, the media are transported through plastic double-containment piping. This design provides an additional level of protection when conveying phosphoric acid and sodium hydroxide solution.
How are phosphoric acid and sodium hydroxide solution supplied safely?
The chemicals are stored in two IBCs per medium, each with a capacity of 1,000 litres. The IBC supply container is designed for phosphoric acid at a concentration of 70% and sodium hydroxide solution at a concentration of 30%.
The redundant pump and filter technology supports a reliable supply to the connected processes. If one component requires maintenance or is temporarily unavailable, the second unit can maintain the supply.
An integrated air-conditioning system reliably maintains the fluid temperature between 15 and 35°C. This creates stable conditions for storing, conveying and processing the liquid chemicals.

The system was designed according to the media used, the required flow rate and the customer’s production requirements.
