New acid and alkali supply hazardous materials container: Maximum safety when handling aggressive chemicals
Klipphausen, September 15, 2025 – The newly developed hazardous materials supply container from Fäth, specially designed for handling acids and alkalis, was delivered to the customer in July. The system solution not only enables safe storage, but also the needs-based supply of aggressive liquid chemicals. The container combines the highest safety standards for personnel and the environment with efficient process integration.
Safe operation and versatile application
The acid-alkali supply container is used for the safe storage and supply of aggressive chemicals such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or caustic soda. Its main application is in critical processes such as cleaning, etching, and neutralization. A concrete example is the active storage and automatic supply of highly concentrated caustic soda and phosphoric acid for neutralization and cleaning processes. The hazardous materials container is used wherever hazardous liquid media – such as acids, alkalis, or solvents – need to be stored and/or transported safely, either actively or passively, outside buildings.
Technical innovations
The technical features of the new hazardous substance supply container are particularly noteworthy. The pump, filter, and valve technology is installed in protected cabinets (containment), which significantly increases occupational safety and facilitates maintenance and repair work. Outside the cabinets, Fäth relies on a robust plastic double-pipe design that offers additional safety. In addition, the pump and filter technology is designed to be redundant in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply. An integrated air conditioning system reliably maintains the fluid temperature in the range of 15 to 35 °C – a decisive factor for process stability and safety.

With a delivery rate of 1 m³ per hour at a pressure of 3.5 bar, the container is designed for demanding industrial processes. The system has two 1000-liter IBCs each for phosphoric acid (70% H₃PO₄) and caustic soda (30% NaOH). This results in a flexible total capacity that is derived from both the size of the containers and the required delivery rate.
Its range of applications is wide: the container is particularly suitable for industries with high chemical requirements, such as the semiconductor industry, life science chemistry, and metal finishing. Wherever aggressive and/or highly flammable liquids are required in large quantities, the system solution ensures safe storage and reliable supply – even outside buildings.
Added value for customers
The hazardous materials container not only ensures safe storage and supply of chemicals, but also offers comprehensive environmental and personal protection thanks to sealed, monitored systems. Automated conveyor technology allows processes to be efficiently integrated into existing production workflows—a decisive advantage in terms of safety, efficiency, and compliance. These factors contribute significantly to regulatory compliance while optimizing operational processes.
